That sounds like a nice idea, but dangerous for the child and hard on the
cavaliers.....I mean the child's health will be at risk and the cavaliers
would have to go one at a time to the home and possibly get returned...

The mother sounds a little selfish and too willing to put her child at risk.
At a minimum , i would ask for the doctor's okay for the child to even come
visit the dogs...and then the doctor's approval on getting one.
