I too, have had a bad experience in the past, dealing with a breeder who didn't stand behind her guarantee. My first purebred was a black Lab, and I thought the breeders were just the best people iin the world, I loved how their dogs were raised, loved the people, and they loved me. Until my girl was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia at the age of 5. Then there was suddenly this huge withdrawal. Except when they were trying to get me to be quiet about Gemma's HD. In fact, it eventually turned into blackmail, where they attempted to blackmail me into shutting up about the HD. And I was even accused of "beating it into her". And not ONCE had I even PRESUMED that I'd get my money back, or a replacement dog. My thoughts now on health guarantees from breeders? They're not worth the money they're printed on. I would NEVER give a dog back in order to get a "healthy one" so what's the purpose? My only safeguard against bad health and bad breeders now is to do my research into the dogs AND the breeder. It's still "buyer beware" out there, and I think all of us would do well to take note of that.
