Debbie I think you may have hit it on the head! It seems like the only way to get started is to buy a young puppy, assume ALL the risk, and hope that the breeder sells you a good show dog by mistake. **********
Well, actually this is what we did. LOL Only it wasn't a mistake. Which is why we co-own. As we all know dogs change as they grow and where as our Molly is a heavily marked Tri with NO blaze (the kiss of death in the show ring I have been told LOL) her structure isn't too bad. We bred her (working for that illusive show dog... As someone suggested) with a nice looking blenheim boy....and they produced very heavily marked tri's with NO blaze with nice heads, and bone, but the girl had an underbite that didn't change and the boy was way too heavily marked to keep. So...they both were sold to pet homes....but close enough that I get to see them from time to time. But I think WAY too much sometimes.......WHICH is why I posted the question about how to find a show dog and get started. LOL Thinking there MIGHT have been a better way of getting started. I was just wanting to pick brains.....and get ideas.... Which I did and I have to THANK all of you. Some day we will have a dog to show.....which was my whole goal in all of this. I was and still are going to dog shows and finally was in a position where I could persue this dream (or is it a night mare? --only kidding!). Think I will go back to lurking.
