Well, we've certainly had dogs for two years and placed them as pets when things didn't work out. We are a showing/breeding kennel. We are small, and only have room for a limited number of dogs. If a girl flunks her OFA exam, then she is placed as a pet after being spayed. It isn't that we don't love her.....we always do love them. If a boy doesn't produce something pretty close to himself, we would place him because we are counting on him to help us build our kennel by giving us puppies who share at least some of his characteristics. We have placed dogs who didn't work out for a variety of reasons. We search for the perfect home, and we honestly feel that by placing them, we are giving them a chance to be the center of someone's life instead of having to share the two of us with several other dogs. Life here is good, but it is always a nicer life for a cavalier when they get to be the center of attention. Myra
