And, there you have it, Alida,
My opinion is that this is not a "professional organization" but a
group of hobby breeders doing their best to do credit to their breed.
This is not a medical journal, a legal journal or anything on which
someone should rely for professional advice. Rather you are talking
about an archive of advertisements, awards and articles. If the
articles contain advice, they are advice from hobby breeders for the
most part and should be considered as such. (Not that the advice is not
very sound advice for the most part, but it is not "professionally"
supplied.) The training is experience, and one takes it for what it is
worth. That said, one tries all suggestions at their own risk, much
like herbal recipes on the internet.
On the other hand, should a veterinarian or laywer or other
professional write a memorandum or suggestion in such publications,
there should be a higher standard of care in so doing which is mandated
by their own professions. To me, there is a huge difference between
reading about "Fluffy's antics in the water" or "my experiences with
BARF" and an article submitted by a licensed professional.
