There is a norm or unspoken rule among breeders that euthanization of puppies is not discussed and that it is best done by the vet when necessary. I've never euthanized a puppy myself-- don't have the stomach for it. Guess this is what grossed people out more than anything, even if the deed was necessary. If she was going to do it herself, she should have never written about it in a email and certainly not to someone who would mail a copy of her email to the world. I'm sure she realizes this now.
Most people who have faced a similar situation with a seriously ill puppy will understand her dilemma and be sympathetic even if they don't agree with her methods. I wouldn't worry too much about rumors, they change fast and someone else will be the butt of gossip soon.
