I've sewn up one, sewn up and put "second skin" stuff (that they use for
geriatric bed sores) on another, and had a vet sew up a third. The worst one
that we ever had died quickly on it's own. The previous three survived. I
always watch my girls to make sure that they don't do this, but they can be
pretty quick. I like to tie and disinfect the cords myself. It is better to
not let her lick the tummy until the cord is dry. I've never been able to
euthanize a pup. If it was so bad as you say, I'd try to repair it, cover
the wound with "second skin" and let it rest on a heating pad until morning.
If it made it until then, we'd see what the vet could do.

There are some breeders who can bucket a pup like this, but I've never been
able to.
All the best,
Susan Cochran
