Great idea! My name is Eileen Starks and I live in Mesa, Arizona with my husband and 3 teenagers. I'm fairly new to the list - joined near the first of the year.
I was raised with pets (dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, and even a ferret). My husband and I have had three dogs since our marriage 22 years ago, a lovely 9-year old cattle dog mix named Sheba who is still with us. We decided we wanted to add to our little family and we went on the AKC website to research the different breeds. We knew we wanted a dog that was intelligent, but much smaller than our previous dogs, but we didn't want a "little yapper." The description on the website sounded much too good to be true. However, we have two little blenheim cavaliers now and as you all know, they are truly a blessing. I have been taking handling classes since March and have met some of the other people in my area who show and breed cavaliers. We've gone to a few shows, and to my delight I was asked to show one of the other breeder's dogs in June when she ended up with two in the ring for best of breed. In September I plan on entering my two little cavvies for the first time and am very excited (and a little nervous). I've learned a lot already through belonging to this list and hope to continue doing so.
