I too, have always loved animals. As a child, my parents owned a
variety/convenience store and the only pet we were able to have was a cat.
(I wonder if turtles count?) Anyway, my brother delivered newspapers, and
one Christmas one of his customers gave him a puppy - we called her Mandy
but she only lived for 3 years. I don't recall what she died of officially,
but the vet explained that whatever she ate turned to fat and her body
couldn't cope with that.

Once we were married and our youngest child was 4, we got our first dog -
and we've had at least one ever since. My youngest is now 28! When Misty
died at 14, we began our search for a purebred and quite by accident I was
introduced to the Cavalier. Our Tanner is now 9 and what began as getting a
family pet has turned into a showing/breeding hobby that has given our lives
more meaning. We've met some wonderful people over the past 9 years and our
Cavalier family now numbers 7. Tanner was never meant to be a "show dog"
but my husband insists on showing her at the CFSO old timers fun match each
year. She's the only dog he even considers going into the ring with, and
for him, she'll do anything!

My greatest win in the show ring came last Sunday at our CFSO specialty when
my Tiana, Ch. Brinklow's Timpani at Burbrook, won Best Opposite Sex. What a
joy that was!
