In my 22 years of fully testing, I have to admit I have found OFA to be the least subjective in evaluating for HD as compared to various vets for patellar luxation, various ophthalmologists for eye problems and various cardiologists for MVD. Except for the years late 1999 to early 2001, the evaluation my vet and I have done on the xrays has always matched OFA's evaluation--no surprises at all. The others, especially opththalmologists, can vary tremendously in their opinion. On the Premier Site I have pictures of two xrays of two different Cavaliers. The site URL is www.premiercavaliersite.net . Click on Health, then on Hips. OFA uses Fair, Good and Excellent as grading categories for hips that do not show any signs of hip dysplasia. I would be interested in knowing what some of you would rate the hips shown in the xray on the left. OFA uses Mild, Moderate and Severe as grading categories for hips that DO show signs of HD. So how about the hips shown in the xray on the right--what would some of you rate the hips in that one? Anyone willing to make an attempt?
