Pretty much ALL dogs can have HD and not show it! I had a lovely Labrador once who was never lame in her life (15 yrs), had fine 'movement' (placed at regional specialties) - and according to OFA she shouldn't have been able to stand up <grin> This was back when OFA was relatively new, not everyone x-rayed as much as they do now, and this dog wasn't x-rayed until she was maybe 6 years old - but OFA said she had everything possible wrong -- but NO symptoms AT ALL --
There were many stories circulated among Labrador people of field dogs that developed wonderful muscles & never were lame - and their bones didn't even touch -- USUALLY there is a movement of the rear legs that gives things away to the educated eye, but ... not always ... and Odd movement isn't always caused by dysplasia -- which is one reason why we x-ray -- so we can see exactly what the situation is - Well - I recommend doing the x-rays -- and the breeders I've known / respected over the years recommend doing x-rays -- we all have to make up our own minds and where our 'comfort zones' are, as someone earlier posted - Joan Robinson ========================================================= "Magic Commands": to stop receiving mail for awhile, click here and send the email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20NOMAIL to start it up gain click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20MAIL E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] for assistance.
