Yes, perhaps these things are so.  However, please focus on the fact that
what we did was breed two, fully tested, age appropriate cavaliers who were
both CERFed.  What we produced were five fully cleared, CERFed puppies.
Let's not all get carried away with trying to decide what you would do about
carrier status.  It is rare......extremely rare... for us to even know the
carrier status of our dogs.  From this breeding, I learned another small
piece of information about the carrier status of my boy, Robbie, and I am
glad to have it.  If someone has a bitch with folds, (fully CERFable, you
know)  and they are interested in breeding to my boy, I can tell this person
with some degree of confidence that...when bred to a girl who was a known
carrier for dysplasia, he produced clear retinas.  I have placed as pets
dogs that we owned who had retinal dysplasia and I would continue to do so.
If we start discarding dogs because of their carrier status, we might as
well try our hands at breeding goldfish.  Myra
