My vets normally use isoflorane but now are using a new one called Sevoflo (sevoflurane). http://www.propoflo.com/product/sevoflo.htm It is an inhalant type and they swear by it for it's "light" properties. They use it for c-sections, dentals, difficult x-rays etc. We just used it for a c-section on my Diana and I was there assisting. The hardest part was watching her breath it in as she struggled at first, but after the third breath or so was down. All else went very well. Not that it mattered, but of course it was much more expensive.
