My dogs' vet uses isoflorane . My cats go to a "cats only" clinic, and she
uses sevoflurane. I would imagine my dogs' vet will start using it soon, if
they haven't started already.

They use a pre-anesthetic also, and in my dog's cases, it is an IV valium
that they use. They have told me, and I have also read several places, that
this is the safest for heart patients.
