Hi Kris, I don't know that I would feed fresh killed Blue Jay intentionally, however, I wouldn't worry about an occasional meal or two of this delicacy. Prior to their domestication, dogs were thriving on diets that consisted mainly of other animals. Their digestive systems are extremely short (the opposite of our's), extremely acidic, and perfect for handling raw meat and any bacteria that may be lurking in it. The main difference between the freshly killed Blue Jay and the chicken you cook for your dogs to be fed with their kibble, is that the Blue Jay still has all the healthy enzymes intact, whereas the cooking process destroys these enzymes in the cooked chicken. Hope you are feeling better about the efforts of your cat toward supplementing your Cavalier's diet :) The main difference between what your cat drags home and commercial raw chicken from a reputable source is that the Commercial raw chicken is likely to be a much safer(disease free) and more palatable (the feathers are already off) source of raw meat.
