Well, if you don't believe that dogs can be unable to process protein, you need
to talk to some people in other breeds, such as Dalmatians, which suffer from an
inability to process what other breeds call "normal" levels of protein.  Perhaps
"protein intolerant" is not the exact scientific term...but it works for the
world in general, and since I have a dog who suffers from the problem, I'm going
to go with it.
    Rather than put the dog through a series of tests to find out whether it is
a specific protein, I found it easier on him to just lower his protein intake.
My Dalmatian breeder friends do the same.  You may do as you please.   And yes,
btw, kidney failure can be brought about by the dog having too high a level of
protein for its specific system to handle.
    Whatever you chose to call it, the method of treating is the same...reduce
the level of protein.
