Hi Barb, Almost right! <VBG> The black is always dominant to red but a Black and Tan and a Tricolor can "carry" red and pass that on to any offspring. If the Black and Tan "carries" red, then when bred to another Black and Tan or Tricolor that also "carries" red, you may get a Ruby. And if the Black and Tans also "carry" the recessive broken-color gene, then you could get a Blenheim from the two Black and Tans. But you are right in that, when breeding Blenheims and Rubys, you will never get a Black and Tan or a Tricolor.
