Doubling is when someone outside the ring (not the handler on the dog in the
ring) attracts the dog's attention. It is standard procedure in many breeds in
Europe...in this country (and I think in the UK and in Australia, too) it is
condemned as a strictly German Shepherd practice, which it is not.
Done properly, it is not offensive...it does, however, become extremely
offensive and distracting to others when it is done badly. Certain people used
to do it quite well at the CKCSC shows............. (giggle giggle).
