Well, I'm a programmer by trade, so I'd like to be able to do the .Net stuff (I know there is an open source version...), web development with Cold Fusion (I know CF works with Apache on Linux), and other than that, I do general office app stuff. I guess it's just bite the bullet and learn. :D
Thanks for the tip on the Nvidia driver... -----Original Message----- From: Jesse Kline [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, October 16, 2002 2:08 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: (clug-talk) Linux Newbie - Mandrake 9.0 installed, now what? <snip> I replaced Windows with Linux so I know it's possible. The amount of software available for Linux never ceases to amaze me. You just have to start looking in different places. One good site for software is http://www.freshmeat.net/ . What kinds of things are you looking to do? There are lots of great web browsers for Linux such as Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, Konqueror, etc. There is also a large development community. I'm sure other people on the list will be able to recommend IDE's. Jesse
