The open source implementation is called Mono. Check out http://www.ximian.com/
there is also a project that offers similar features to .Net called DotGnu.

There are many good html editors such as Quanta Plus
(http://quanta.sourceforge.net/),  Mozilla Composer (http://www.mozilla.org/),
Bluefish (http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/), etc.

I use OpenOffice myself (http://www.openoffice.org/). However there are many
other office applications/suites. I would also check out Gnome Office
(http://www.gnome.org/gnome-office/) and KOffice (http://www.koffice.org/).

There are many more apps. out there, just do some searches :-).
