i'm using RP with its Native driver support and running aRts, no problem.
however, if you do try both native and OSS and neither works out, rather than
installing ESD and having yet another sound server around, try:
artsdsp reaplay
this will run realplay through the artsdsp wrapper with fakes out the running
app into thinking it has direct access to the sound card when in fact it is
going through aRts...
