Hello all, I'm new to CLUG this year. I just got on the mail list yesterday, and I'll stop lurking to voice my thoughts on this topic.
I understand both positions, and I think that they are both valid. Here's the trade-off as I see it: * For a large group/traffic list, segregation of topics is easier for everyone to manage/moderate. * For a small group/traffic list, segregation of topics is more work to manage/moderate. So, preferences aside, I think it comes down to practicality. That being said... (heh, now I'll go playing devil's advocate) I personally don't think it would be that hard to sign up for *all* the mailing lists if you wanted to see *all* the threads. The same amount of content, and you only have to sign up for each thread once. However, if it is not practical at this time, then I won't vote for a change that isn't going to promote a better experience for all. But, as I saw at the January meeting, it looks like CLUG may be growing... ;-) Sincerely, Curtis Sloan -----Original Message----- From: Mike Fitton [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, January 21, 2003 8:11 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: (clug-talk) Suggestion/Question -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have the same vote, although I don't always understand the technical or programming questions that are sometimes posted, at that time, I find as I'm learning I can look back, and go over the messages to find information that I need. What i'm not interested in today, maybe essential tommorrow. I can work with filters to move different topics into different folders easily enough, without the extra hassle for Jeff.
