It's getting easier and easier to network Linux boxes with Windows
boxes. In Mandrake it's as simple as right clicking on a folder and
hitting "Share". This will share the folder with samba and nfs. However
it may be beneficial to many people to know how to integrate their Linux
machine into a Windows network whether it be at home or at work. I know
I really could have used some of that knowledge when I first started out
on Linux, and I'm sure I would still gain allot from a presentation like
that. Here are my thoughts:
- The smb.conf file lets you specify many options, but it's very
confusing. It would be nice to go over some of the more common options
in this file.
- There's no "Network Neighborhood" per-say in Linux (although there is
software that tries to emulate it). It would probably help lots of
people to go over smbclient and smbmount as well as some of the GUI
front-ends for these commands.
