I did a poor job of explaining my problem (Hein
sight is always 2020), I am on Telus ADSL, and I
use static IPs inside my network. The 10base T is not a bad idea, but the delay
is just to big to account for that, it takes up to 5minutes to connect
to the FTP server, then 2 or 3 min for every action (including changing a
directory). I am sorry I don't know what IPCop is? As for securities when this
started happening I turned every bit of security on the firewall off, then I
move to a Linksys router, and disabled any security there. Same issue. The funny
thing is the Web services (on the same computer) run fast... As far as I know
the settings on the users would not allow you to slow someone down to this
speed, I may be wrong (7 months of Linux use under my belt and all :) , but
please keep the ideas coming I am just lost on this...
