I was having the same problem with WU-FTP and Red Hat 7.2 I fixed it by opening up some extra ports
Add these lines to your /etc/ftpaccess passive address 142.178.87.54 0.0.0.0/0 # edit with your own ext IP address passive ports 0.0.0.0/0 2121 2123 Then you need to open the ports 2121 - 2123 on your firewall. and have them forward to your FTP box. There might be another way but this works.
