I'm going to apply the practical questions here. Don't take my comments
as being negative though - I think this would be a great idea. It went
over well last year I think...

1) Who is doing this? COSSFEST, or CLUG? Being on the COSSFEST
planning committee, I know we have enough on our plates as is, so this
would be better as a CLUG endeavor I think.

2) Who is organizing/coordinating this? Szemir has stepped up thus far.
What I"m not seeing is if he is "the guy" or simply planting the seed.
Even if he is "the guy", I'm sure he'd appreciate some help.

3) Where are the CDs/DVDs/media coming from? The financiers of last
year's event put out approx $250 for media. And we had LOTS of burned
CDs left over. A "Burn on demand" makes more sense in terms of wasted
effort, but adds it's own hassles.

4) Is CLUG doing a booth? I know this has been talked about by the
COSSFEST planning team in passing, but to the best of my knowledge there
has been no definitive answer. Do the CD activities happen at the CLUG
booth? Who is manning the booth? The usual gang for this (Kin, Szemir,
myself, Gustin, and a few more I'm sure) will be busy that day giving
presentations, or helping the event in other ways.

5) If disks are going to be pre-burned, who is burning them? When?
There's only 3 weeks to COSSFEST.

Again, I don't mean to be raining on the idea. But having the idea is
only the first step. Making it happen takes more effort. The above may
sound like a lot of decisions/work, but can be minimized if the various
members "just do it". We can all burn a few copies and donate a few
CDs/media to minimize the time/money involved. But this still needs
someone to coordinate things.

My thoughts... not yours...
