No, not necessarily.  If the resident was discharged prior to completing the initial assessment, no matter due to death or what, it must be coded as this.  This is described in the manual.

You would code the discharge as it was known to be on the day of discharge.  What happened after that doesn’t affect the coding.

    How do you code on a discharge if a resident went to the hosp , but then passed away . This scenario this resident was part A and a five day was only done. 06 or 08
