CMS does not require that you change resident to discharge not anticipated.  You are not supposed to but our software company changes it for us so that they don't forever show up on reports. 
 
Check with your software vendor.

The only problem in coding expected to return is that if you DO NOT submit another discharge not expected to return due to death, you will show that resident for almost forever as missing assessments. (At least you do in Michigan!)

    How do you code on a discharge if a resident went to the hosp , but then passed away . This scenario this resident was part A and a five day was only done. 06 or 08
