Sounds like you do have your work cut out for you!!  Brand new facility?  Does that mean everything is brand new? Sounds like fun!

If your facility has a daily standup meeting (I think many facilities do). I would certainly plan my day to make it to those meetings, it can help you keep informed and it may help you to determine if anyone has had a possible SCOC that may need to be evaluated further. I have the luxury of setting my own hours depending on my work load but  9:30 – 6:00 usually works out for me.  Until you get settled in your job, I would ask for flexibility with your hours.

Subject: MDS Coordinator responsibilities?

I've just begun as an MDS Coordinator at a brand new facility in which the job responsibilities are not yet set.   My bosses (ADON and DON) are not familiar with MDS' , the RAI process, and Medicare billing.  Lots of education needed!  We are trying to determine my working hours (my DON wants me to be in late afternoon with her as the ADON works early hours) and that prompted my question for the group.  Which committees do you attend?  On a daily and weekly basis what meetings are you required to be at?  Related to that...what other disciplines are attending these meetings?  In my experience there are many meetings throughout the week that the MDS Coordinator is attending which would make it difficult to work afternoons only.  (Although, for the record, I would love to delegate those meetings to others and just do assessments LOL!)
