There are CML patients who have had various types of treatments and have had CML as long as 20 years before the new drugs such as Gleevec, BMS, AMN, etc. came into being. It does not automatically go from CML to AML in 2 years.

Subject: [CML] Gleevec

Hi my name is Sandy. My husband was DX with CML in aug. of this year.He is taking 400mg of gleevec a day.My question to anyone taking gleevec,I have read about this drug and it is my understanding that it will only keep you in the cronic stage for about two years.Than it goes from cronic to aml.Is this true or am I missinformed?I know there is not alot of information on this drugs long term use yet,and it is frustrating at times.Any response is welcome.
