Well, Andrea, it is a tough decision for you rather to go for the transplant or pursue some of the trial drugs if the Gleevec doesn't hold your disease in check. It sounds like the doctor is wanting you to pursue transplant because of your age being only 24. Do you have a sibling match?
It's an individual decision. The doctor told my daughter that the risk with transplant increases over the age of 40 so she has awhile to decide (she is 33 and hoping not to have a transplant.)
