Hi Sue,I do not get it when a doctor tells someone with cml to take tylenol,do they not read anything about gleevec?I admit I do not know much about cml yet,but that was one thing the oncologist did tell us.Do you live somewhere that has many oncologist to chose from?My husband has never had a second opinion because there are only2 around here that I know of.Does your Daughter take gleevec?I woundered because my husband is so cold also sense he started on gleevec.And yes we do know it is winter,I'm with you what a jerk to brush her problems off like that.Well Sue I do hope you find a good carring Oncologist for her,good comunication with a Dr. is so important,My husbands onc.doesn't offer anymore information than he has to and it is really frustraing.But this group has helped me alot.Good luck to your Daughter,and stay strong.Sandy"S. As you guys know, I believe in patients and their families being advocates for good care by knowledgeable physicians who know about CML.  I am so disgusted with my daughter's oncologist.  She went yesterday and tried to discuss her numerous problems and side effects and he had an excuse for every one.  For example, she says she is cold all the time (as she sat there with sweather and leather jacket on) and his response was:  it is winter, I'm cold, too.   He didn't bother to acknowledge that her hemoglobin is 9.  He acknowledged her her edema in lower extremites, said he could do an MRI for the sloushing sound in her ears but didn't know what the cause was, and take tylenol for her achy legs.  TYLENOL?  HELLO???? and he is a CML specialist?  Oh, and he refused to sign her request for handicap plates (she can't walk through the parking lot without getting completely
 out of breath).  He said it is his policy not to sign such things!  What a jerk.  It's scarey out there, folks.  And that is her last trip to that guy.  We'll find someone else.  This will be oncologist number 3 coming up!  Thank goodness we go to OHSU for the big stuff!
