>Does anyone have any experience in explaining this to management? Or >maybe I am off base here and it can be implemented so that we just >create a new workflow for every project? Rather do that - stay focused on the very needs of your team. The more general you get, the less people can understand what they are doing, the more overhead you have. Going the "general" way is IMHO, very cool in theory, but a nightmare in practice. The latter doesn't seem like a >good idea to me but, on the other hand, I was just asked to oversee the >implementation...not to structure our processes and restructure the >department. What do you think? That's another point - I think IT and Management could work fine togehter, if they could really understand each other. It gets difficult if you try to change processes in your company that haven't been accepted by your management. The creation of a working group which involves managers, users and IT people equally would certainly be beneficial. If you don't have the management which supports you fully - things can turn quickly sour. It's always better if someone from the management is involved than trying to fight it out for yourself. Again, test this group by starting with a small project - it's also a learning process;) >We're a very hierarchical company and managers generally don't take >kindly to being told how to run their businesses. > I understand your managers very well - they are managers, right;) Best Roger -- roger fischer | bitflux GmbH | schneggstrasse 5 | ch-8004 zrich tel +41 1 240 56 72 | mobil +41 78 607 75 06 | fax +41 1 240 56 71 http://www.bitflux.ch | [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- http://cms-list.org/ trim your replies for good karma.
