If you plan on pulling up track take the genoa car off the track first. There
is a gadget you can get from rigger for loading/retaining the balls. Put car
back on after the re-bedding work is done

That sounds scary. Losing balls on deck will be too risky. Can you assemble the
cars onto the track on your workbench and then transport the whole system to
the deck. I've chased loose balls on deck, it always ended badly!! Ron C.

It will be challenging to apply Bed-It to the 27 bolts and get the car to slide
past the screw heads so I can push down all the bolts into all the holes.
Guess I'll press in a few bolts on the end of the track, to make room for the
car, turn the track upside down, load all the balls into the car, and slide the
car down the track, past the end so the balls stay in.

And wherever possible, tighten the nut, NOT the bolt.

I roll out a small worm of butyl, wrap it under the head of the bolt and then
it gets squeezed when the bolt is tightened. That makes it both waterproof and
resistant to galvanic action. I picked that idea up from reading somewhere,
but don't remember where. Dave

I think you are "right on track" so to speak with using the Tef-Gel under the
bolt heads since it's stainless to aluminum.

I'm rebedding the genoa tracks and thinking of using Butyl tape around the
bolts between aluminum track and deck, but should I use bedding or Tef-Gel
under the bolt heads where they sit in the track? My tracks are standard
Harken aluminum with a hollow section down the middle.
