put out invalid HTML, except when you find an error in jtidy.

I'm too. I think the idea for the program is good. Problem is, that it needs
cleanup, as far as I read the sourceforge page.
In my serializer, I serialize with xalan and read the stream in via jtidy,
because neither SAX nor DOM support is avalaible or working.
Best would be, if xalan people would adopt the project and integrate it in
xalan as HTML serializer. Default could be to conform to the specs, or what
they think is conform. I never asked, as I don't think they would do it and I
haven't the time for it.

You mean, indented code? You can configure jtidy not to do it. And you have to
give him the DTD to use. CHTML has it's own more or less official as far as
my googling showed.
