That's the exact same thing as what's currently listed, and the Apple Collection makes no claims whatsoever to its veracity - they just say "look, here's something that we found on eBay that looks neat." >1. you gotta figure $12K USD minimum, and likely *much* more, given the size >of the mold, which would argue against it being a relatively recent hoax, >let alone a renumerative one ...and, I'd believe that except I've seen photos of the Skeleton Duo that Tyler is talking about, and that guy definitely did his own moulding for a lot less than that. >2. if it was a take-off of the original molds - kipped somehow, which seems >unlikely-but-is-at-least-plausible (and what I think pickle was >suggesting) - then even if it wasn't an "engineering sample", it would still >be arguably "genuine", being as close as you could get to "real Apple". But offering it as a "prototype," which is certainly wouldn't be if this is indeed how it came into being, is fraud nonetheless, just as offering a bootleg album for sale is illegal for other reasons. Again, I don't doubt the authenticity of the clear portion of the case; it's the green front panel and mobo cover that I'm skeptical of. The clear CCs definitely *do* exist, but only as entirely clear pieces. My guess is that someone managed to get a hold of two or three of these, made up some new front and back panels, and decided they would see how much *more* money they could get by claiming it's an even rarer variety of the "typical" clear-case prototypes. Keep in mind that the last clear-case SE to be sold publicly made something like $14K, and I would expect a clear-case CC could fetch as much as $20K in the right environment (not eBay; people are too stingy and the proper audience isn't in attendance). the pickle FAQ <http://macfaq.org/index.shtml> Software Archive <ftp://download:[EMAIL PROTECTED]//Users/thepickl/Sites/Archive/> <http://www.members.jmug.org/%7Ethepickl/archive/> _________________________________________________________________ -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
