There are definitely at least 2 revisions of the Macintosh SE/30 logic board. One has a soldered-down CPU and the other has a socketed 030 CPU, which can be removed and replace by an upgrade card, such as the DayStar PowerCache in mine. I kinda presume the socketed boards are later but I dunno. Either way they may have different ROM revisions of some of the chips on them, making them a 'yes' or 'no' for the IIfx trick.
