Unless ICS is putting out a static IP, it won't work.  MacTCP can't do dynamic
IPs.
   

In my experience, if you aren't going to use Micro$oft products (or even if you
are going to), it's easier to use a third-party proxy server and set up static IPs
in the LAN. I allways recommend ProxyPlus (http://www.proxyplus.net/). It's small,
easy to set up, powerfull, fully configurable via web, and free for non-corporate
use.

checked it out, the 3 licence limit is a problem.
Both Linux and MS ICS work with both static and dhcp. Both are free, one 
more so than the other.
Both are compact mac friendly.

The Dayna Port scsi/link does tcp on OS7.1.1 :) with a static address 
which is nice as I dont think OT works with less than a 020 so I'm stuck 
with Mactcp regardless.

While appletalk works with its default ethernet driver, Ethertalk 
Alternative under the Network control panel, TCP will not.
Under the MacTCP control panel you get a choice of two, Ethertalk (A) 
and Ethernet Built-In. The problem was I chose Ethertalk.
So it works, a fair improvement over localtalk, not earth shattering. 
Biggest plus is it now has direct access to the rest of the network.
