Hi Darren,

First thanks for the help. Well there is good news and bad news. The
good news is that the Daynaport box works. I got the old performa(with
ethernet card) from my daughters, she doesn't use it anyway and
connected it to the classic via ethernet. It worked first time. I used
the crossover cable and it transfers files everything. This maybe
important the link light steady and activity light flashes as in your
setup.

Now the bad news. I tried a patch cable that I know is good(I'm using
it now) to connect the router to the Daynaport, no good still the
flashing link light. Tried the crossover cable between the imac and
daynaport no good same result. Tried the patch cable between the imac
and daynaport no good this time no link light at all. Also tried
restarting in os 9.

So the only conclusion is that the box is working okay but the this
some kind of electrical mismatch. Does anyone know anything about this.
Or a software problem. I copied a 7.5 version of mactcp control panel
over to the classic but it didn't seem to make a difference. Tried
dynamic, manual ips etc. I don't know much about mactcp. The imac is
dhcp.

The performa runs 8.6 the classic runs 7.1. imac runs 10.2.4 and 9.2.

Anyway I'll have another go some time, BTW don't waste to much time on
this I'm only experimenting.

Steven
