Virtual. That's what you're thinking of. (I'm assuming a few of you are using PCs as main computers while you have your Compact on your side, right? If not, skip to #3.) 1) Get Stuffit Extractor 5 installed... 4 wont cut it. 2) Download TransMac (Acute Systems, http://www.google.com/search?q=TransMac ), 3) download Virtual 3.0.1 ( http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/download/virtual301.sit.bin ). 4) Run TransMac, stick a Mac formatted (format it in your Classic for best results) floppy in, in the lower panel, the drop down list, go to A. Double click the volume name (Untitled usually). 5) In the upper panel, navigate to where you downloaded Virtual. Right click it. Copy selected. Change file type to MacBinary. Hit OK. OK again. Wait to finish copying... 6) Yank the disk, shove it in your Classic, expand the .SIT, then do whatever makes sense... I never got this far (St[i]ffit 5 requires 7.1.1 or higher... I have 6.0.8 had havent yet been able to upgrade...). Ugh...
For cryin' out loud, guys... System 6 heaven! http://www.euronet.nl/users/mvdk/system_6_heaven.html Quote from the front page: "System 6 will make any vintage Macintosh computer as fast as a G3. It's more stable than system 7.x and provides almost instant booting. It was way ahead of its time and can do far more than most people know. It needs very little memory and takes up a small amount of hard disk space. It's more elegant and user-friendly than any other operating system ever made. It is more inspiring for creative people than any other operating system ever made. It's nicer and easier to work with than any other operating system ever made." I believe it. > > >From: Gamba <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > >Subject: Re: Macintosh Classic Internet > > > >>Second, if RAM Doubler only runs on 68020+ CPUs (right? not a 68000?), get > >>>Sim020. > > > >Sim020 won't let the 68000 use RamDoubler, no way. > >Kinda like making gold out of lead. > > > >Gamba > ><http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2> > > > > > > But didn't Connectix make a "RAM Doubler" program for the 68000 machines. > I wanna say it was called something like "virtua" perhaps?
