Really? Well, when Sim020 (is that the name anyway?) is running, MacEnvy says I have a 68020 CPU... so if the program tries executing 020 instructions, theoretically Sim020 would intercept and interpret them... right? Making it run like a normal (but VEEERY slow) 020?

My guess is, for RAM Doubler to work, Sim020 would need to emulate the instruction set of the '020 and the (P)MMU. There's more to making software work than reporting a different CPU, or even emuating the missing instructions.

That's the real question, whether Sim020 actually emulates the missing instructions, or just makes software thing it's an 020 to see if they'll run anyway. There was probably plenty of software that didn't actually need an '020, but just checked for one for minimum spec reasons.
