Good find!

Don't see why an 800k disk wouldn't work. They are really just using both 
sides of a 400k disk. I don't think the bias needs of the disk is any 
different than the 400k originals.

"Prevent" a disk from going bad? Not really. Entropy will prevail in the 
end.

However, if you keep them in a controlled environment (not in the attic 
or garage) and away from magnetic fields, they will probably last at 
least as long as you do!
