You can also run a IIsi with the fan disabled? That sounds really interesting.
Yep! I also took the HDD out and attached an external floppy drive. Heat doesn't seem to be a problem - nothing gets that hot, and I've been running it for over a year now. It might be a problem with the HDD in there, but that kind of defeats the whole reason to disable the fan anyway. I figure it's the most capable silent Mac I can use that'll still run System 6. The only problem is that it's not quite as slick as having two internal floppy drives like the LC - I really like that!
Most of the time I use either of these silent Macs to play old Infocom text games via Telnet.
That printer wont' work with older version of the laserwriter driver.
Oooh...bummer. Do you happen to know the earliest version that does work? I know the driver that comes with 6.0.8 (v7.0) works - I've used it to print to the 16/600 from my 512Ke and Plus.
