many thanks to jeff for the info. YAQ (yet another question): i'm having trouble with my SE/30 floppy drive. i believe there is a mechanical problem writing after a certain cylinder number and i was trying to determine what the problem was by using disk copy. then i discovered another problem. i can read an entire disk image, but when i try to make a copy, i get a Type 11 error and must reboot. i get the same problem when trying to initialize a floppy. sometimes it just hangs, or gives me a Bus Error. any ideas? is it a software problem? cable problem? dead drive? jj -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
