I don't know if the 8 MB SIMMs are incompatible with the SE/30, seems I
remember hearing somewhere that they aren't, but, something worth trying
is to put 4 1MB SIMMs or 4 0.25MB SIMMs in Bank B. I had a set of 4 16
MB SIMMs that wouldn't work in a SE/30 until I did that.
well, this is strange:
the 4 8MB SIMMS by themselves don't work.
the 4 8MB SIMMS in slot pairs 1 and 2, with my 4 4MB SIMMS in slot pairs 3
and 4, don't work.
BUT
the 4 4MB SIMMS in slot pairs 1 and 2, with the 4 8MB SIMMS in slot pairs
3 and 4 DO WORK! BUT, the system only reports 32MB! so the 4 8MB SIMMS
are seen as 4x4MB! how come?
also, i notice that with only 16MB installed, the system uses over 10MB.
but with 32MB, the system reports using over 26MB. what gives?
HELP!
In a SE/30 the larger simms have to be in the front slots, what you are referring to as pairs 1 and 2. For example I have 4x16MB in the front slots and 4x1MB in the others. That may explain why they aren't recognized when you put them in the front slots.
Later notes here seem to indicate that aren't compatible with the SE/30.
