Last week we were cleaning out a cluttered closet at the office, and I found a Mac Plus that was still usable, and it followed me home.

It's an original Mac that has been upgraded to a Mac Plus, 1 MB RAM and an external 20 MB SCSI hard drive. I took it home, found all of my old term papers from the 80s on floppies, and was pleasantly surprised to see them load.

Then I did some research and found this compact Mac subculture, mainly through lowendmac.com (although I am getting frustrated at the number of links that end with "this article has been removed at the request of the author"). I plan to upgrade to 4MB RAM, system 7.0.1 and to somehow get TCP/IP networking working.

But my question to the list today concerns the Mac Plus power supply. The Plus's screen is tiny, but mine is tinier still. It looks about 80% of the size it should be, and I have been told that this may be due to a weak power supply.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but from lurking it seems that power supply = analog board on a Plus.

So, on to the questions:

1) Would a failing analog board cause the shrinkage I am seeing?
2) Would it be worth rebuilding (I've come across some articles on the parts I would need) or should I just by a used one:

TIA,
