Well, just because the light is blinking doesn't mean it's working. But then, you maybe right - it can be a software issue. You mention you have an Asante card - did you have the software that goes along with the card? Also, are you running open transport or MacTCP? Did you remember to activate your TCP/IP? I think maybe the easier thing will be to have your try to get on the Internet.
I gather you are not getting any IP addresses from the router?
