Thanks for replying to me. I do have Internet Explorer 7 though right now
unsure if it's sp2 or not, I believe it is. When I click on help in IE about
IE it shows it's IE7, but doesn't show if it's service pack 2 or not. I
guess I will contact earthlink to see if they have this included in their
internet connections.

Most websites work without the www because the actual website masks to the
WWW name, example. I type newegg.com and it resolves to www.newegg.com.

My DNS server and internet explorer tell it that I am trying to go to
www.newegg.com even though I enter newegg.com

Some websites do not have this luxury and will not work unless you put the
www in it. The CTRL+enter works well, its easier to type ebay and hit
crtl+enter then it is to type ebay.com

as far as your computer and earthlink go...
Make sure you have the updated internet explorer, should be version 7, check
this by going to "Help" and "About Internet Explorer"

I have windows XP SP2 with Internet explorer 7 and I can type
newegg.com and get www.newegg.com. This should work on all
computers. You might want to check with Earthlink's DNS team and make sure
they are resolving www. addresses to the right ones. They may have
"Half-assed" it and not written the rules...
