Yes, I've worked with the registry before. I did contact Earthlink and they
told me at first that I'm supposed to type in the complete web address and
then I told them I suspect it's a DNS problem and they had me enter in some
numbers for the preferred and then for the other one, but it didn't work.
Also, now I've noticed internet explorer is hanging more and before that
practically every time I loaded an internet explorer page I got one of those
internet explorer encountered a problem and needs to be closed box. I tried
to find out if I have IE 7 Sp2 installed, but from what it looks like I have
XP SP2 and just IE7. I couldn't locate the IE SP2 at Microsoft Website so I
figured it isn't available anymore or I already have it or something. I did
make sure all updates have been installed and they have been. I will go
where you want me to in the registry to further fix this issue. Ok for that
registry key there were 6 keys listed.

Name Type Data
Default REG_SZ (value not set)
Ftp REG_SZ ftp://
Gopher REG_SZ gopher://
Home REG_SZ http://
Mosaic REG_SZ http://
www REG_SZ http://

Elizabeth,
Do you think you could navigate the registry if I asked you to?

I want you to check something for me.
Go to START
RUN
type regedit
in regedit I want you to go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\
Microsoft\
Windows\
CurrentVersion\
URL\
Prefixes

Yes it is buried deep.
Can you type the NAME, TYPE, and DATA fields listed in there? Usually isn't
more then 5 different lines.

Thanks!
