Sometimes I set updates to download but not install, then run them later. Maybe the stealth update on your computer is downloaded at one time and run later automatically. The firewall won't prevent downloading something when your system is set to allow it. I can set my computer to turn on automatically at a set time. Can XP do that?
I don't know. I've had it for 2 yrs, and when I first got it I went through and turned off everything I could find that was "automatic". It won't even restart on it's own, far as I know. It always asks if I want to restart now or later. I have my AVG set to update when it's booted, as I don't use that machine much.
